Nutrition for the workplace seminar (60 minutes)

Nutrition and a preventative approach to health are the future for happy and productive workplaces. Connie will share information about local, nutrient-dense food options that are easy to incorporate into meals, as well as healthy lifestyle habits to keep your teams happy and well balanced in work and life. Positive, daily habits can support your team in retaining their passion and drive for the work they do, bringing their best selves to the workplace each and every day.

Stress management workshop (60 minutes)

Learn real-life techniques for daily habits that allow your team to feel empowered instead of overwhelmed by stress and how it affects their bodies and lives. Studies demonstrate that mindset and healthy habits are major components for wellness in today's stress-heavy environments. Connie incorporates many techniques to formulate a growth mindset and establish healthy habits to cope during these times. She'll equip your team with straightforward approaches, allowing people to feel fulfilled and capable, despite daily challenges.

Heart-Centered Leadership: Lessons in wisdom, support and personal connection.

Mother Trees: Mother trees are wise and resilient leaders of the forest. They are at the centre of a complex network that actively passes resources and support signals to other trees. Mother trees get the majority of the sunlight, but they don’t keep it all for themselves, they are finely attuned to their kin and even other species sending them what they need when they need it. Together we help shift thinking away from past theories about dominance and survival of the fittest to approaches in leadership and ecology that are about caring for others as a way to make the whole unit stronger.

Co-operative Teamwork: Considerations between cooperation and competition

Tree Communication: Until recently the predominant assumption was that trees compete for sunlight. This has been proven wrong. Now we know trees work together as a community. They have lively two-way conversations and share information with each other. As we zoom out to understand the significance of this research we discuss “Survival of the Fittest” as the dominant ideology and challenge participants to consider their unconscious bias. We consider alternative ways to view both the natural world and modern economic process that involve more teamwork and a community-focused mindset.

Mental Health & Resilient Teams: Experience ways to manage stress and discuss the importance of well-being.

Healthy Ecosystems: The benefits of access to nature are unreservedly supported by modern science. We introduce data-driven techniques for calming the nervous system, focusing the mind, and giving space for connection. We then reflect on those practices with discussions about the benefits and consequences of prioritizing mental health. Analogies about resilient forest ecosystems are shared as a safe way to explore how your colleagues can support each and how your leaders can support them.

Problem Solving & Innovation: How to adapt & thrive (with intention) in a post-pandemic landscape.

See the Forest Through the Trees: After massive disruptive events, ecosystems will undertake rapid adaptation as they rebuild in a landscape that has been forever changed. Nature is resilient but never stagnant. Once the seeds are spread, regrowth can be rapid, but it is fragile. This pattern is much like our own lives, however, we can be intentional about it. To do this we explore systems thinking as a holistic approach for finding solutions and creative three-dimensional approaches toward progress. We inspire participants to see the hidden complex systems in nature as way to quickly learn and apply this way of thinking to high-value organizational goals around strategic problem solving and innovation.

Accommodating & Celebrating Neurodiversity.

Biodiversity vs Monocrops: When natural diversity is replaced with endless rows of just one species, plants can be easier to manage at first, but they produce low-quality industrialized sameness and unsustainable growth. The same is true for the workplace. Successful companies are embracing diversity & inclusion, but what about those with non-visible differences? Up to 20% of the population is neurodiverse; this includes ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder), ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder), Dyslexia, and other conditions. Through basic education about what life is like for neurodivergent folks, plus a shift in values, companies can see huge benefits in their workforce productivity. We’ll discuss how to build on the strengths of these beautiful minds and accommodate their sensory and processing needs.

Environmental Stewardship: Examining how to be a steward of nature and an agent of change.

The Lungs of the Earth: As we walk among the towering conifers of the Temperate Rainforest, we contemplate the ecological system as a whole. It is more than just a habitat for bears or any other one-dimensional point of view. In fact, some scientists think of the forest as one large single organism; it is an intelligent complex system that works as a unit connected by a “brain” of fungal threads in the soil. When the system is disrupted by deforestation and global warming we see drastic effects. However, there is hope, the forest is resilient, it just needs the right tools. We encourage discussion that is action-focused and relevant to your organization’s purpose.
